Biography: Beaver, Wilfred Norman: Educated Christian Brothers’ College, University High School and Scotch College; Ormond College; Enrolled 1898, Melbourne Law School, passed first year LL.B. Beaver entered Commonwealth Service in British New Guinea, was Assistant Resident Magistrate of Northern Division 1907, Central Division 1908, and Resident Magistrate of Western Division 1910 until enlistment in the armed forces; he did much exploration and his book, "Unexplored New Guinea", was published after his death. Enlisted 27 December 1915, 2nd Lieutenant of 60th Battalion; sailed 1 August 1916; Lieutenant 1 March 1917; active service in France between November 1917 and March 1917. Invalided home for three months, he returned to France in time to take part in the fighting at Passchendaele and Polygon Wood, and died of wounds received at Polygon Wood on 26 December 1917. -The History of The Melbourne Law School.
